I just like to have a simple back up plan that works on unmodded hardware in case my modded systems ever go down. I don't own any multi disk games to comment on that aspect, but I can't find anything to complain about boot disks not working on single disk games so far. They didn't have Gatchaman listed at all, but I noted that they listed Gungage as being protected and that one didn't give Boot Disc a lick of trouble, so I can't vouch for the accuracy or completeness of the list.

They also have lists of Japanese and PAL games that are protected by various means and might be worth a look.
#Vib ribbon ps2 download
Handy thing to have around and free to boot! In fact Megagames had free generic boot disks to download and burn, though I haven't tried any of those. I did just that and inserted it after my Boot Disc loaded, clicked on ImportPlayer's start button and Gotchaman loaded perfectly after that.

You download that, burn it on a CD and it let's you play any import games that gives PS-X-Change trouble. Vib Ribbon is a genre in itself, which transcends the usual dance/rhythm game you'll just have to play it for yourself. I checked around and found that had everything I remember seeing at the defunct Boot Disc site, including a utility called ImportPlayer. Vib Ribbon was designed by Masaya Matsuura, also creator of Parappa the Rappa and Umjammer Lammy, and was released in Japan on 12.9.99. I did have a spot of trouble with one game not loading though.

I don't know if any of these were protected or not, but everyone one of them loaded up without a hitch using a regular Sony PSOne and the disc. Emphasis on the if.I decided to put my Boot Disc 2.0 aka PS-X-Change 2.0 to the test with any Japanese game I have published after 1998. You can use Gameshark codes to bypass this lockout, if you can find them.
#Vib ribbon ps2 mod
Here's hoping, though.Any Japanese Playstation game with mod protection (meaning nearly every one made after '98) won't work, you'll just get the "This console may have been modified" error message. No details of US or European launches have been confirmed. The game is due for release this Autumn in Japan. What this will consist of we're not sure - direct head to head gameplay is certainly possible, but with the hard drive, there's also a chance that you could be allowed to swap your own custom tunes for the game with your friends.

Now Matsuura-san is working on a sequel, called Mojib Ribbon (probably Vib Ribbon II if we Europeans are lucky enough to get our grubby hands on it), which will utilise the PS2 network adapter and hard drive for online gameplay. If this kind of rhythm action sounds familiar, then you might not be surprised that the man whose drug-fuelled fantasy this was is Masaya Matsuura, also responsible for Parappa the Rapper and Um Jammer Lammy. Your task was to guide your wireframe character down a narrow ribbon by tapping the right buttons on the pad when obstacles appeared, all in time with some rather trippy music.
#Vib ribbon ps2 software
In case you're not aware of Vib Ribbon, it was a particularly insane piece of software which appeared late in the lifespan of the PSone and consisted entirely of 2D, line-based vector graphics. Game publishers currently seem to be in the habit of re-announcing games in order to bring them to our attention again, so although we first heard about a sequel to the wonderful Vib Ribbon way back in the mists of time when the PS2 network adapter was but a twinkle in Ken Kutaragi's eye, the company has dutifully announced the title for a second time this week - with, thankfully, a little more information this time.
